Easily one of the most recognizable and beautiful aircraft ever built, the Spitfire started off its career with a two bladed prop much like its nemesis, the Messerschmitt Bf-109. These wooden props by Weybridge were fitted to Mark I Spitfires with serials K9787 to K9863.

Tamiya’s kit is a great starting point and now Ultracast is offering a two bladed propeller to convert the Mark I kit into the earlier variant.

As usual, we find a ziploc bag with a heavy paper header which allows viewing the contents of the set. In this case, it is a one piece resin replacement propeller. I did not find any bubbles, unintentional flash, warping, or pits on the part.

Installation was easy. Remove the flash from either side of the propeller shaft and use instead of the Tamiya parts. Fit was very good.

Accuracy rates high as well with a slight twist, proper shape to the blades and spinner, and a delicately molded hub nut. See photos for details.

Thanks to Ultracast for the review sample.
