This is my recently finished High Planes Winjeel trainer in 1/72 scale.

The kiit is typical High Planes: Blue plastic, white metal parts, a very nice vacform canopy and a huge selection of decal options.

I have a soft spot for these kits. While the initial impression might scare away many modellers, I have to say that once the parts have been cleaned up and contact surfaces have been sanded straight fit is usually very good!

My Winjeel was built only from what is in the box with the exception of:

  • the seats (there is a theoretical chance that the kit supplied lumps of plastic could have been filed into acceptable seats but I didn't feel like spending that amount of work),

  • a substitute crash pylon made from steel wire and

  • a new carburettor intake (the one in the kit was very oddly proportioned).

I used a Tamiya TS-17 rattle can for all major painting.

The Dayglo is from the Vallejo range, painted over a white primer.
