Background

Please see my earlier review of CMR’s Swiss Venom Mk.1R for a shared history and background.

FirstLook

Not surprisingly, this kit is very much like CMR’s Swiss Mk.1R and Mk.1 kits, both reviewed recently. Rather than repeat everything here please take the time to read the earlier “First Look” review as most comments apply equally to this kit.

Most of the differences between the Mk.4 kit reviewed here and the Mk.1R, which was reviewed first, are in fact shared with the Mk.1 kit (reviewed second). This is because both the Mk.4 and MK.1 kits include the same selection of weapons and fuselage alternatives. The kit it comes with a plethora of underwing stores unique to the Swiss Air Force. There are several bomb choices, underwing tanks, free-flight rockets and multiple stores racks. They should look superb thanks to the PE fins provided. Two fuselage choices allow for the original style nose, or the extended Pinocchio nose of post-1970 aircraft that were fitted with IFF. My second Swiss Venom review about the Mk.1 can be found here. However the most obvious difference from the first two kits reviewed is the Mk.4’s different tail fin shape.

Like the other two kits, this one is also a tour-de-force when it comes to supporting information. The walk-around photos are highly detailed, and as usual the colour schemes are very comprehensive. You can see the instructions and examples of the colour schemes here.

In all decals for five schemes covering overall aluminium and camouflaged schemes are provided

Conclusion

This is a superbly executed kit with an incredible amount of additional information to aid finishing. All of the Swiss Venoms are superb kits. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that this one too is highly recommended.

Thanks to Czech Master Resin for this review sample.
