Good scale finesse. The Blackhawk and Hunter sets should enhance their intended kits enormously. The power plant and oxygen cart kits are dainty little models in their own right, and ideal for dioramas.

Disadvantages:

None apparent - provided that you have good eyesight and steady hands!

Conclusions:

Very well produced detail and diorama accessories. Should keep the 1/144 masochists happy!

Accessory Sets:

  • Blackhawk HH-60, MH-60 & UH-60 (BRL144029). Intended to improve the Dragon kits. This is an impressive set best illustrated by the excellent instructions that the modeller can down-load from Bregun here. In this case, perhaps unexpectedly, I think that photos are superior to drawings as an assembly guide. They also have a table that indicates which of the 48 pieces of PE is applicable to any of the five Dragon Blackhawk kits the set is designed to compliment. The set includes seat-belts for the entire cabin and cockpit, instrument panel, tail-boom fold detail, extensive main and tail rotor hub enhancements, along with numerous external fittings and details.
  • Hawker Hunter FGA.9 (BRL 144030). Intended to improve the Revell kit. Some very fine and tiny parts are provided. They include a rear cockpit bulkhead, instrument panel, seat harness and firing handles, undercarriage doors and retraction links, torque links, intake boundary layer plates, plus a nice boarding ladder and blast ports for the rocket pods. This set will undoubtedly refine the Revell Hunter, but I can’t help but feel that a vac-from canopy to really display all that’s offered for the cockpit would have been a good idea too.

Both sets are excellent additions to their intended kits in my view.

Kit Sets:

  • NC-8A Mobile Electric Power Plant (BRS 144007). This package provides parts to build two NCA-8’s to compliment a miniature diorama. The resin parts consist of a combined chassis and body plus four wheels. The PE set provides instrument panels, foot pedals and a steering that attaches to a cast in situ steering column! There are also some very small towing eyes and decals to compete the vehicle.
  • US Navy Oxygen Cart (BRS 144008). This set has parts to build two oxygen carts, ideal for a US Navy aircraft diorama. The PE fret provides the trailer chassis, oxygen tank straps and valve-control levers. The resin parts provide the oxygen bottles, control panel and wheels.

The resin parts are cleanly cast and appear faultless, and the PE is also to a high standard. As the accompanying images from Brengun’s website attest, these kits build into impressive little models.

Conclusion

These are very well produced accessories and kits that are sure to appeal to 1/144 aircraft and diorama builders. I have to say as a dedicated 1/72 scale builder that I’m impressed with the level of refinement Brengun has made possible in this much smaller scale; although I’m not masochistic enough to become a convert!

Highly recommended.
