Introduction

Hearing the callsign “Dustoff” on the radio could evoke different emotions depending upon what you were doing at the time - those not directly involved knew that something serious had happened, and use of the medevac callsign meant that this was a priority mission.

To those on the receiving end, it meant that help was at hand, “Dustoff” was on the way. Medevac crews are sometimes the unsung heroes, doing their best to preserve life.

This latest addition from Werner’s Wings will allow you to build a fitting tribute to these brave men and women.

FirstLook

This aftermarket kit is packaged very nicely in a sturdy cardboard box with the contents sealed within a plastic zip lock bag to prevent the loss of any small components.

The kit contains very nicely cast, bubble free resin with minimal clean-up required once removed from their casting blocks. There is some flash but it is very thin and will be easy to clean up. The level of details is stunning as can be seen by the attention to detail on the main frame for the carousel (moulded as a single piece) and the two medical bags.

If you are not intimate with the medevac fit out, a description of what the parts are within the box would be helpful however, a quick visit to http://www.wernerswings.com/images/MedevacInteriorPartsBreakdown.jpg will answer all your questions bar one. I think the picture below is of the wooden components’ discussed in the instructions but not on the website.

While  there are instructions they do lack a painting guide for the components’ so you will need to have good reference material at hand, again the internet is your friend, after a few minutes I had tracked down two other sites that contained very detailed images of the carousel fitted to a Blackhawk.

Conclusion

This looks to be a great aftermarket addition that will bring your UH-60 to life as a Medevac Bird, great detail and ease of installation are evident in the superb attention to detail.

Thanks to Werner’s Wings for the review sample
