Thundercals has sent the following information on their latest 1/48 scale decals:

69th, 310th, 311th FS/58th FG

  • An all 58th FG P-47D Thunderbolt Razorback decal in 1/48th scale.  Printed by Cartograph, researched by Norris Graser.  Historical information and images supplied by Frank Emmett, PhD, 58th FG Historian and Chuck Mayer.

  • Designed for the Tamiya 1/48 scale Razorback, these decals can be also used on all available 1/48th Razorback models.

  • This decal is a short run printing project and will not be reprinted.

  • Squadron markings feature alternating yellow and black pinstripe outlined polished metal cowl flaps and a fuselage Flight Leaders stripe.  We have included alternate serial presentations:  

  •  Serial number printed with an O.D. background or

  •  Separate Serial numbers for the modeler who prefers to paint the O.D. background.

  • Squadron markings featuring modeler options

Alternate modelers choice for markings include:

  • Nose art and nose stripe as one-piece application and an additional girl is included for the modeler who wishes to paint the blue nose stripes.

  • Single piece black vertical tail stripes, serials and aircraft numbers or separate aircraft numbers and serials for those who wish to paint the black stripe themselves.

  • Often requested markings.   

  • Some modelers will note that the serial on this decal is different than that found on old profiles and publications and as well as some current online references.  This decal features the correct serial as confirmed by Chuck Mayer, the nephew of the S/SSgt George Mayer, 58th FG historian, Frank Emmett.
