This new publication from Accion Press Publications details a huge amount of model building techniques on model kits built by Ricardo and Javier.

The publication contains 200 pages of exceptional detail using hundreds of colour photographs taken during the assembly of eight different model kits.

The photographs are taken during the build stages explaining many scratch building techniques and weathering and effect techniques.

Both modelers also demonstrate the extensive use of aftermarket details such as various resin details, etched metal, cast metal and turned metal details along with the extensive use of after-market decals.

Ricardo builds the following kits;

  • Tamiya Messerschmitt Bf 109E-1

  • Hasegawa Macchi C.202 Folgore

  • Tamiya Messerschmitt ME 262A

Javier builds the following kits;

  • Tamiya North American P-51D Mustang

  • Tamiya Dewoitine D.520

  • Hasegawa Nakajima KI-81 Hayate

  • Tamiya De Havilland Mosquito NFII

  • Trumpeter Mikoyan Gurevich MIG-3

Both Ricardo and Javier are master modelers with a keen eye for detail. Some of the detail that these two guys have put into these kits is mind boggling and must be seen to believed.

The internal scratch building that has gone into some of the kits is amazing although some of it cannot be seen when finished.

The best parts for me are the realism techniques such as the addition of better and more realistic rivet detail and the weathering techniques.  There are clues and tips around solving some of the problems with some of the kits as well as correcting areas for more realistic detail.

Some new and well explained techniques for weathering using hairspray, salt and sponge will lend some new detail to my models as well as the old use of washes and oil paints to enhance and highlight detail.

The completed kits are displayed in many profiles by photograph demonstrating the realism effects that both Ricardo and Javier have applied to their finished kits demonstrating the master modelers that these guys are.

Highly recommended
