Supermarine Spitfire - Modelling The 1:48 Airfix Mk.XIV

‘Supermarine Spitfire - Modelling The 1:48 Airfix Mk.XIV’ is Spencer Pollard's brand-new guide book dedicated to this very popular new kit. But there’s a twist: this book is also harks back to the days of Airfix modelling guides and annuals, 70s books that many of you would have enjoyed as children, books that perhaps helped to start you along the model making path that we all travel today.

This book is unashamedly retro in size, design and feel. Reproduced as only an A5 hardback (there are no soft-back versions this time around), the book uses the same fonts, design ideas and paper seen within the covers of those classic, earlier modelling titles. It will feel familiar and yet new, and for those who ordered his previous Spitfire book, will provide the perfect-add-on to the information contained within that earlier publication. Though smaller in size, the two books are designed to work together within your collection of modelling titles.

Though this book is diminutive in size, it certainly offers plenty of information, both pictorially and by the inclusion of the accompanying text. It is the latter that perhaps sets this book apart from Spencer's earlier titles, because here, the use of over 10,000 words means that this a book that you can read, every bit as much as you can simply flick through to enjoy the pictures - at least, that’s the plan!

This new title will be 36 pages long, but will be crammed with plenty of information on how to get the best from the kit, a complete guide to construction, painting, any pitfalls that may trap the unwary and then how to paint and weather the results. Along the way, there is also a detailed review of what Airfix supply, as well as ideas on painting kit cockpits and that overall silver finish that so defines one of the colour scheme choices within the Airfix box. The idea is that this will be a detailed one-stop resource that you can enjoy, use for your build, and then keep!

But Wait, There’s More!

Along with the book, the package will also include a very special, limited-edition print, reproduced on high-quality 300 gsm paper, as well as a postcard that you can either keep, or send to friends.

For more information and ordering details, please visit Spencer’s Blog page where you will find all you need to know about the book and how to order a copy. The link is as follows:
