Xtradecal has released a new series of decals suitable for the Hasegawa 1/48 scale Phantom FG.1 and FGR.2 kits.

Tonight we are taking a look at Part One. Four RAF Phantoms are covered.

Two schemes are included - one FG.1 in overall Light Aircraft Grey and the remianing three FGR.2s in the 1970s camouflage of Dark Green and Dark Sea Grey upper surfaces with Light Aircraft Grey below.

Details are as follows:

  • FG.1 XT863/G 111 Sqn RAF Leuchars Scotland UK as seen at RAF Greenham Common IAT 1983;

  • FGR.2 XT906/T II(AC) Sqn RAF Laarbruch Germany Mid-1970s;

  • FGR.2 XV413/Z 92 Sqn RAF Wildenrath Germany July 1977;

  • FGR.2, XT901/J 17 Sqn RAF Brüggen Germany 1973

Instructions for the decal sheet are in full colour across two folded double-sided A4 and one double-sided A5 sheets.

Both side views plus upper and lower views are provided for all four aircraft.

A selection of national markings is included.

Colour notes are offered, along with model paint callouts for Xtracolor enamels and Xtracrylix acrylics.

The decals are beautifully printed and feature thin carrier film.

A smaller second sheet provides under wing serial numbers in black.

This release will be very welcome for anyone building the old but still very respectable Phantom FG.1 or FGR.2 kits.
