Here is something a little different.

For modeling subjects I'm usually drawn to aircraft displaying colourful and expressive nose art so subsequently the P-47 Thunderbolt is often my aircraft of choice. The 368th Fighter Group of the U. S. 9th Airforce P-47s carried very interesting and expressive artwork. Here is a small collection of 368th Fighter Group P-47s.

The models are Tamiya 1/48 P-47D Razor Back and Bubble Tops. They are mostly detailed with Eduard seat belts and control panel. The bare metal finishes were done with different shades of Alcad II over a Model Master gloss black primer. The metal finishes are highlighted with heavily thinned Tamiya Smoke sprayed at very low pressure.

The colours are Testors Model Master Enamels. Most of the decals are from Kits-World. The markings for "Miss Second Front" are from Zotz. I believe "Miss Second Front" was inherited from another Fighter Group. My favorite has always been "The Down Necker". In the near future I intend to build the bubble top version carrying the same nose art and flown by the same pilot.
