Description

Finally a lifelong project has come to fruition. Six years in the planning stages. Here is my latest model, the Werner’s Wings 1/32nd AH-1F Cobra Super Conversion.

This dream would not have been possible without the help of some great people. I’m just a model builder.

Joseph Osborn of Fireball Modelworks was instrumental and the key supporter of this project. He shared his AH-1S parts. Without his support I couldn’t have even thought of this. He allowed me to use his master parts for this. They are the basis for the conversion. Joseph also designed the PE parts for me. Thanks Joseph.

After him the next person to thank is Patrick O’Donnell whose CAD work was the other big piece. He worked on most of the CAD. He endured countless revisions and suggestions. He is easy to work with and a great guy to collaborate with. Thanks Patrick.

Another huge help was Chris Miller from Cobra Company. He did a lot of the master work for the cockpit and did the vacuformed canopy pieces. Thanks Chris.

Thanks as always to Mason Doupnik for doing the excellent decals. I don’t know what I’d do without him. Thanks Mason.

Matt Waterman from Black Ops Models allowed me to use his rocket pods and rockets for the project. Thanks Matt.

Thanks to Matt Leese for doing some CAD work for me when Patrick was moving.

Thanks to Ray Wilhite for printing the parts countless times and getting me interested in CAD designed parts.

Thanks to Hauler for doing the photo etch. Thanks to Master Models from Poland for doing the turned metal barrels. Also thanks to Valiant Miniatures for the white metal landing gear.

A big thanks to John Geigle at Creative Castings for doing the casting work of Joseph’s parts.

Thanks to my wife, Yvonne Werner, for putting up with me. She is the inspiration behind the nose art. She is a Godsend.

I’m sure I forgot some people. Bottom line, thanks everyone for making my dream come true. Now to work on the instructions so others can build a big Cobra.
