Fiat G.55 Centauro

Meng's 1/48 scale F-35A Lightning II is available online from Squadron for USD$59.99

Description

Here is my latest completion - Pacific Coast Models’ 1/32 scale Fiat G.55 Centauro. The airframe parts are in a soft, shiny grey plastic while the cockpit and wheel bays are very nicely detailed resin.

I’ve had this kit in my collection for years and finally decided it was time to build it.

This is a limited run kit so there is a bit of extra time and effort required to clean up the parts and test fit regularly. This is definitely worthwhile though as it will save you trouble down the line.

There was the usual shimming, trimming and adjustment but fit was pretty good and I enjoyed the build.

You can still find this kit to buy on the Kitlinx website by following this link.

Apart from adding some brass pins to reinforce the tailplanes, aerial mast, DF loop etc., the model was otherwise built straight from the box.

I based the camouflage on a couple of profiles. I liked the well defined, quite artistic camouflage on the fuselage side and I tried to replicate it.

I’ll be writing this one up for Issue 180 of Model Airplane International magazine.

Purchased by the author in the mists of time...

Still available online from Kitlinx
