Here is Hasegawa’s 1/72 Crusader.

I built it for the JMC contest in 1996. I won the first prize for my B-47 which was entered in the same show – the first time I won a major competition.

It was also the first time that I met Mr. Asao Shirai, learning his technique and of his deep attachment to realistic finishes and photography.

Although certain aspects of the model appear a bit crude to me now, I finally dare to show it in public again!

I replaced the fan blades with items scratch built from the alloy of a beer can, and lowered them.

The maintenance hatch was opened and the inside was scratch built too.

The kit’s raised panel lines were sanded off and new lines engraved. Rivets were stamped using a razor saw (refer to my B-26 in HyperScale’s Gallery).

This was the time that I became committed to super detailing!

I hand painted all the markings on my Crusader.

Please compare my old Crusader with Academy's new 1/72 and Hasegawa's 1/48 scale kits that many modelers have built much more recently.
