Here is Promodeler’s 1/48 scale Dornier Do 217 E-5. The kit was built straight from the box with the exception of True Details Resin wheels.
The kit is brilliantly engineered with no assembly issues. Very little filler is required on join seams.
I spent a lot of time trying to find a cockpit detail set for this kit but after looking at Brett Green's Do 217 cockpit during construction, I decided that the kit cockpit would suffice. This turned out to be a good decision as I don't see how the kit cockpit could be improved.
The kit was finished in the squiggle scheme of II./KG 100 operating over
the Bay of Biscay in August 1943.
The scheme is painted using Xtracolor RLM 72 and RLM 73 upper surfaces and RLM 65 under surfaces.  The squiggle pattern is painted in RLM 65 and the kit decals were used.
Canopy paint masks are a must for painting this kit. I used the
Eduard masks which was especially handy for the intricate windows around
        the canopy side gun positions.
