Italeri's 1/48 scale Spitfire Mk.IX is available online from Squadron

This is the 1/48 scale Italeri (ex Ocidental) Spitfire Mk. IX reviewed on HyperScale back in 2007.

The shape of the nose was corrected in profile by reducing the front slope of the lower nose cowl. Plastic was removed until the profile was accurate.

The front of the upper cowl was improved with Tamiya putty to achieve the correct contour and match the spinner radius.

The area above the exhausts was also bulged to match the correct subtle shape by the use of Tamiya putty. The exhausts were replaced with Ultracast resin items.

The remainder of the kit is very accurate and presents no real assembly challenges.

My Spitfire was painted in Xtracolor PRU Pink with the kit decals depicting a Spitfire FR.IX of No 16 Sqn based in France during September 1944.
