Back in 2003, Victory Productions released a magnificent decal tribute to the Supermarine Spitfire in service throughout the British Commonwealth during the Second World War.

This amazing decal set featured 41 subjects in 1/48 scale, with a great selection of aces from Britain and many Commonwealth countries.

Coinciding with the commercial release of Tamiya's wonderful large scale Spitfire Mk.IXc, Victory Productions has upsized 14 of these markings to 1/32 scale.

Research has been undertaken by a committee of Spitfire Experten and the results reflect their cumulative knowledge. The subject aircraft are accurately depicted, right down to the little-known use of RAAF Sky Blue codes on Caldwell's Spitfire VIII.

The decal sheets are luxuriously printed by Cartograf. The colours are rich, the decals themselves are very thin, carrier film runs close to the edge of all markings and everything is in perfect register.

Several sets of national markings are included - two RAF and one RAAF. The red and blue in the RAF roundels look suitably dull - to my eye better than the slightly bright markings included in Tamiya's kit/

Spitfire Mks VII, VIII and IX are covered on the sheets. The Mk.VII and VIII will require some modification (retractable tail wheel for both, some scribing for wing fuel tanks; extended wing tips, modified canopy and other details for the Mk.VII), but the after-market is likely to come to the rescue in short order.

The 1/48 version is also being reprinted for release toward the end of the year.
