Eduard's 1/48 scale
Messerschmitt
Bf 110 E-2/Trop

Messerschmitt Bf 110 E

Eduard's 1/48 scale Bf 110 C/D/E Royal Class is available onine from Squadron

Description

Here is the second build to emerge from my Royal Class boxing of Eduard's 1/48 Bf 110 C/D/E kit.

I chose the E-2 Trop version as the deeper oil cooler housings were something a little different, and I generally like Luftwaffe subjects from the African theater.

The kit includes a generous amount of photo-etched parts and I think I used just about every applicable one including the outstanding wheel well details. But enough is never enough, is it? I added scratch built D/F loop and "clothes line" antennas, Quickboost exhausts, and made the dust covers for the Mg 17s from tubing and added a landing light with packing tape cover and a gun camera in the nose.

The rather fragile drop tank braces were replaced with brass wire and plumbing was added to the tanks.

While these kits are challenging, the surface detail is excellent making them well worth the effort required to achieve a good result.
