Description

Here is my latest completion - Tamiya's magnificent 1/32 scale F4U-1 Corsair.

I based the configuration and finish on a high angle photo of a workshop. 6B appears to have bare metal on the turtledeck (although I'd be pleased to hear other suggestions) and clipped wing tips - both a bit unusual for US-based Corsair Mk.Is.

The kit was built mostly from the box, but I did use Barracuda Studios' wheels and engine enhancement set, and Eduard / HGW cloth harness straps.

I also clipped the kit's wings myself and did some minor surgery to obtain the solid turtledeck.

If have the slightest interest in the Corsair, do yourself a favour and grab this masterpiece from Tamiya.

This model is destined for Marcus Nicholls' forthcoming book, "How to Build Tamiya's 1:32 F4U-1 Corsair", which will include two builds by Marcus, one by Spencer Pollard and this one from me. The book will also feature reference on the full-size aircraft.

The new book will be available in the coming months for just £12.95, and is available for pre-order now.

More information will be available closer to release.
