FirstLook

As I am not a B-17 expert, I found sourcing consistent information and images of B-17 wheels difficult. Most image searches turned up restored aircraft with a wide variety of wheels.

From my discussions with aircraft restoration groups, wheels and tyres are often used by a variety of types, if they have common sized mountings, so restored examples may not always be indicative of original issue. For example the reference link aircraft has different wheels and the Brengun wheel is the same as the starboard wheel.

So I’m no expert on B-17s other than to say that these do match examples seen on B-17s.

As for the resin itself it is nicely cast, with no wheel branding or weighting. The lovely detail of the tyre and brake drums are well detail so that when painted and with a wash, they will look amazing. The tread pattern is the diamond style, one of the commonly used designs. These items are a very simple remove from casting block, paint and affix to your 1/48 B-17.

Conclusion

Nicely cast detail.

Highly recommended.

Thanks to Brengun for the review sample.
