Background

The AIM-120 Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missile (AMRAAM) is a modern beyond-visual-range (BVR) missile capable of all-weather day-and-night operations. Designed with the same form-and-fit factors as the previous generation of semiactive guided Sparrow missiles, it is a fire-and-forget missile with active guidance.

There are currently four main variants of AMRAAM. The AIM-120A is no longer in production and shares the enlarged wings and fins with the successor AIM-120B, of which, deliveries began in 1994. The AIM-120C has smaller "clipped" surfaces to enable internal carriage on the USAF F-22 Raptor, and can be used on other aircraft that AMRAAM is employed on.

The AIM-120C deliveries began in 1996. The C-variant has been steadily upgraded since it was introduced.
AMRAAMs have been used on the following Aircraft:

FirstLook

Each set gives you the option of either a live missile or a captive-carry training missile (CATM). The CATM seeker head maintains the body diameter longer before tapering off and the solid exhaust is used with the CATM round.

The overall detail in the resin is of Eduard’s usual high standard, and there are locating holes in the body for placement of the fins to ease construction.

The decals do not list by whom they are made however, they are crisp and legible.

If I was to have any criticism of the missiles, it’s that two are not enough, four would be nice as that would cover most loadouts that current aircraft operate with.

Conclusion

These will be a nice replacement to any kit plastic missile, or for those kits that do not come with any Air-Air missiles.

Highly recommended.

Thanks to Eduard for the samples.
