FirstLook

All the items reviewed here tonight are part of North Stars no mask range, ie the tyres and the wheel hubs are moulded separately and therefore can and should be painted prior to assembly.

They all come in a resealable bag with backing card and an A5 sheet of instructions.

The resin is well cast with minimal contact areas with the casting blocks and the level of detail on the tyre is excellent, for example the F-111 nose tyres have the correct chines to divert water on the runway away from the intakes and the main tyre “Hub Caps” have  ‘F-111’ on them if you look close enough.

The detail on all the parts looks to be accurate and the resin is free from defects or bubbles.

Apart from the F-4Phantom II set that contains a small photo etch fret, all these sets are very simple by design and therefore should be very simple to assemble. Once painted and with a wash they will look excellent.

Conclusion

Well cast and very thoughtfully designed I can highly recommend all these sets as I have always dreaded painting landing gear due to the white wheels next to the rubber tyres. This method from North Star alleviates all those issues. I certainly hope that they also end up doing an FB-111A/F-111C set in the future.

My thanks to North Star Models for the review sample
