Most of Messerschmitt’s major WW2 designs are ever-popular modelling subjects, so a decal sheet covering monotone schemes for several of these should be a winner with Luftwaffe fans. The decal sheet reviewed here covers the Bf 109, Bf 110, Me 163, and Me 262.

The decals and their instructions come packaged in a zip-lock A-5 sized plastic bag, along with a folded A-4 header sheet. The production quality of the decal appears to be excellent (I believe that Fantasy Printshop does the printing). The instructions are printed nicely in colour with a single profile for each subject, as well as plan views for the Me 163 schemes. RML colour codes are used for paints as would be expected. The research appears to be thorough, and the accompanying notes to each scheme include mention of research references. There are also various small detail notes and advice where conjecture has been employed.

The eleven subjects are:

  • Bf 110D-3 of 4/NJG 1, retrofitted with FuG 202 radar, St Trond, summer 1942.

  • Bf 110D of 7/NJG 1.

  • Bf 110E of II/NJG 1, Commander Hptm. Walter Ehle & Ofw. Wenig, St Trond October 1940.

  • Bf 110G-4 of 3rd Staffel of 1 Gruppe NJG 2, Greifswald (Pomerania) 1943.

  • Bf 109G-10 “White 43”, Wk Nr 130369 of 5/NJG11, Fassburg.

  • Bf 109G-10 “White 44”, Wk Nr 130342 of 5/NJG11, Fassburg.

  • Bf 109G-14/AS of 3/JG 1 (high-altitude staffel), Anklem December 1944.

  • Bf 109G-6/AS “Green 5”, of 2/EJG 2 Gardelegen, spring 1945.

  • Me 262 competed but unpainted captured airframe, Scheppacher Forest, captured by US Forces on 14 April 1945, adorned with US graffiti.

  • Me 163 PK+QP.

  • Me 163 PK+QL.

Aims cover quite a number of interesting subjects in their decal range, plus provide some PE and resin sets too. I recommend checking out their website here
