FirstLook

Grey Matter Aviation has created an interesting way to customise Tamiya's excellent 1/32 scale F4U-1A Corsair kit.

Grey Matter's 1/32 scale F4U-1A Corsair Accessory Bay comprises 23 pieces in grey coloured resin plus four pages of full-colour instructions, all packed into a small stout cardboard box.

The set supplies a detailed bulkhead (between the fuselage fuel tank and the equipment bay), the larger oil tank first used on the -1A Corsair, radiators and ducting, rear engine mounts, fuselage fillet panels, hydraulic lines and the rear part of the engine.

Grey Matter also supplies resin covers for the bay.

Casting quality is perfect on my sample, and cleanup before assembly will be minimal thanks to the absence of chunky casting blocks. In fact, most of the parts have no casting waste to dispose of at all - very impressive.

The instructions are lavishly illustrated in 30 steps, and include notes to help assembly.

A colour guide calling out Tamiya acrylics is also included.

Grey Matter also offers an Accessory Bay for the F4U-1 Corsair.

This is quite a straightforward upgrade for Tamiya's Corsair that will individualise your project.

Highly Recommended.

Thanks to Grey Matter Aviation for the review sample.
