Avro Shackleton MR.2 |

Airfix's 1/48 Spitfire Mk.Vb is available online from Squadron.com
After what seems like an eternity, the second of my Shackleton builds is done and dusted.
This time around - as you probably all know - I've tackled the Airfix MR.2, building and painting it to represent a well-used aircraft from 204 Squadron based in Singapore.

Though delivered in a glossy scheme, they quickly wore down into a rough, matt, degraded finish and that's what I've tried to recreate. The finish is as random as I could get it and the colours - I believe - spot on in tone and shade. The whole model was painted in Gunze acrylics and all weathering carried out using Humbrol enamels and Winsor & Newton oils. My only concern is that I've overworked certain areas such as the spinners and that they now look too dirty; still live and learn!

Two Shackeltons done, I think it's time to build something quick and easy - I wonder where my Tamiya kits are?!

This model will appear in the April issue (Issue 129) of Model Airplane International magazine.
