Xtradecal has released a new decal sheet for the forthcoming 1/48 scale Supermarine Walrus, but it will be equally suitanle for the Classic Airframes kit.

 

 

Most of the subjects are finished in Dark Slate Grey and Extra Dark Sea Grey upper surfaces with Sky below, but three are in overall Silver Dope and one is counter-shaded with Light Slate Grey and Dark Sea Grey below the waterline and on the upper surface of the lower wings.

  • W3040/ AA5R 751 Sqn RAFDundee, Scotland 1944

  • W3065/P HMS Victorious British Pacific Flight, Japan 1945;

  • W2771 / 9F 710 NAS FAA, HMS Albatross 1940;

  • HD908/BA D 227 Squadron RAF 1944-45;

One set each of pre-war, mid to late war and SEAC national markings are included, plus a few specialised extras.

 

 

Instructions for the decal sheet are in full colour across one folded double-sided A4 and one A5 sheet. Both side plus upper and lower views are provided for all eight aircraft. Stencils are not included.

 

 

Colour notes are supplied, along with model paint callouts for Xtracolor enamels and Xtracrylix acrylics.

The decals are beautifully printed and feature thin carrier film.

 

 

This release offers some interesting and options for modellers with the Classic Airframes kit already in their collection or who are planning to buy the Airfix 1/48 scale Walrus when it is released later this year.
