Airfix's 1/72 scale Junkers Ju 87 B-1 Stuka is available online from Squadron for only USD$11.99
Here are my Fujimi & Hasegawa Ki-43 Hayabusa sisters.
These two kits are rather old but good kits for their basic outline image.
I added some minor correction works of outline shape and brushing up of details parts. Along with the construction, I made three view drawings in a familiar way.
First of all, I corrected the fuselage cross section shape. The actual aircraft is slim and trapezoid shape. So I cut and bent to transform the fuselage parts.
The cockpit was scratchbuilt. The cockpit of early Nakajima's aircraft were painted Aotake-iro (blue bamboo color : clear greenish blue). The seat harness was from Finemold's Nano series.
The canopy was made of heat formed clear styrene sheet (Tamiya Plaban 0.4mm).
The spinner, engine air intake louver, exhaust stack, gun blast tube and gun blister were scratchbuilt.
The cross section shape of the wing bulge for the wheel was corrected. The leading edge droops down forward. This is a weak point of all Hayabusa kits.
The tire was from Eduard's Spitfire IX. Plastic sheet was inserted to widen. The upper column of the landing gear and propeller blade were replaced with Tamiya's Zero-sen.
The marking represents the 3rd chutai of the 50th sentai, at Tokorozawa base, May 1942. Soon, they moved to Burma. Rib tapes of control surfaces were depicted with custom made dry decals.
All of the camouflage paint and markings were masked and painted.
I corrected the cross section shape of fuselage as well as Fujimi's I. The height of the kit wing is a little low. So I cut the center of the fuselage and raised up the wing. The forward and rearward potions of the lower wing part (green and blue portion of the figure) were cut and bent to lower.
The cockpit of Nakajima aircraft after mid of 1943 to mid of 1944 was painted in grayish green. Thus, Ki43-II mid production model might be painted in this color.
The gear well were still painted in Aotake. But it was unpainted some time later.
The canopy was heat formed with clear styrene sheet. Frames were engraved with a handmade double needle. The tire and wheel was from the kit. Other most of detail parts were scruchbuilt or replaced as well as -I.
The marking represents the 25th Sentai, at Nanjing China, in 1943. The latter half of the spinner was removed as for most of the 25th sentai's Ki43s. Green mottles were painted with a fine brush. I used thinly diluted color and thinly painted over many times.
The aircraft number 20 was custom made dry decals.
Finally my models and drawings were completed. Each slide hood was temporary fixed with wood glue. So I can enjoy both close and open position. I also enjoyed taste-off of Fujimi and Hasegawa.
