Messerschmitt Me 410 B-2/U4 |
Here is my latest completion - Meng Model’s 1/48 scale Messerschmitt Me 410 B-2/U4, the bomber killer variant fitted with the BK5 50mm cannon.

I was really impressed with the level of detail, especially the busy cockpit. I added a set of plastic Fine Molds harness straps although the rest of the interior is straight from the box.

Shapes are generally good but I replaced the stumpy kit spinners and pointy propeller blades with Quickboost’s Item No. QB 48 589 Me 410 Propeller w/ Tool.

Some areas of assembly are a bit fiddly, most notably the canopy, but fit is generally very good. Eduard masks were used for canopy painting, and I coloured the interior framing with a black Sharpie.

Kit decals were mainly used. They performed perfectly. I did replace the tail Hakenkrueze and the spinner spirals with decals taken from a couple of old Eagle Cals sets.

I’ll be writing this one up for a detailed article in Issue 183 of Model Airplane International magazine.
