This is the Royal Australian Navy de Havilland Sea Venom FAW.53 in fabulous 1:72 scale. The kits used were both from CMR (Czech Master Resin). The build consisted of the basic Sea Venom kit (no. 231) plus the optional folding wing set (no. DS7207). I love CMR kits - the level of detail is astounding.

This project is a tribute to Steve Long (NAVY870) from the Camden Museum of Aviation. Steve was a big help with a previous Firefly build so I wanted to make a model of an aircraft that he restored - Sea Venom WZ895. He was an even bigger help on this build, making sure I had all of WZ895's configuration correct. I think I got it all! If I missed something, it’s my fault not Steve’s.

Paints were predominantly Mr. Hobby Aqueous Hobby Colors. The markings are from the kit, and represent WZ895, 870-NW, No. 724 Squadron RAN, Naval Air Station Nowra, in Summer 1959. The model was built pretty much out of the box. But with a CMR kit you really don’t need anything else! The only things I added were:
