FirstLook

Here are three of Eduard's latest releases in their range of accessories for their own recent Spitfire Mk.V kits in the Eagle's Call boxing. These will be useful for anyone building the Overtrees or Weekend Edition versions of the kits, or if you just want a different look from the photo-etched parts in the Limited Edition kits:

3DL48031 - Spitfire Mk.V SPACE. USD$14.95

This SPACE set comprises 3D printed decals for the instrument panel, pilot's back cushion, cabling, panels and placards,.

The photo-etched fret has more inclusions than usual. As well as the half-tone harness straps there are also the pilot's back and head armour plus other small details.

Detailed instructions are included.

I used a SPACE set recently on my Bronco 1/48 scale MiG-15 and I was very pleased with the results.

I found that the 3D decals barely needed to be wet at all before they would slide - or sometimes fall - off the backing sheet. I used Gator’s Grip acrylic glue to secure the 3D printed decals to the plastic kit parts.

Detailed instructions are included.

For what you get, I think USD$14.95 represents great value.

644113 - Spitfire Mk.V LooK. USD$12.95

Eduard has released a "LooK" set for Eduard's 1/48 scale Spitfire V kits, present and future.

The set comprises the instrument panel cast in three-dimensional pre-painted resin with colour printed dials, bezels, switches, knobs and more.

Printing on my sample is in register but they never seem to look as good in my photos as they do in real life!

The lenses of the instruments are finished in a glassy, glossy finish.

As a nice bonus, this set also includes Eduard STEEL harness straps. These are more flexible than the standard Eduard photo-etched straps, and they also feature subtle half tones.

Instructions are included in the package.

EX797 - Spitfire Mk.V TFace. USD$14.95

These are die-cut, self-adhesive inside and outside masks for the windscreen and canopy.

Instructions are provided.

These represent a fast and accurate solution for a time consuming and often disliked modelling task.

Conclusion

Installing either the SPACE or LooK sets will result in a different look for the cockpit for your Eduard Spitfire Mk.Vs - it is nice to have the choice!

The TFace masks will be useful if you want to mask up the framing inside the canopy too.

All of these updates will be particularly useful for Overtrees and Weekend Editions whoch don't come with photo-etched parts or masks.

Thanks to Eduard for the review samples
