FirstLook

Here are Eduard's four latest releases in their range of accessories for the new Special Hobby and soon-to-be released Eduard Tempest Mk.II in 1/48 scale.

644104 - Tempest Mk.II LooK

Eduard has released a "LooK" set for the Special Hobby and soon-to-be released Eduard Tempest Mk.II in 1/48 scale.

The set comprises the instrument panel cast in three-dimensional pre-painted resin with colour printed dials, bezels, switches, knobs and more.

Printing on my sample is in register.

The lenses of the instruments are finished in a glassy, glossy finish.

As a nice bonus, this set also includes Eduard STEEL harness straps. These are more flexible than the standard Eduard photo-etched straps, and they also feature subtle half tones.

Instructions are included in the package.

648636 - Tempest Mk.II Wheels

Eduard's BRASSIN resin wheels are depicted with smooth tyres. These will be a simple drop-fit replacement for the kit's main wheels and tail wheel.

Eduard's replacement main wheels are one part each. They are also subtly bulged and flattened.

Eduard's resin wheels feature crisp surface textures including the raised ribs on the sidewalls.

The inclusion of the anti-shimmy tail wheel is a nice touch too.

Cleanup should be fast and simple. A few swipes with a razor saw for each wheel should do the trick.

648637 - Tempest Mk.II Undecarriage Legs BRONZE

Our final upgrade from this batch is a set of two undercarriage legs in solid bronze and undercarriage doors in resin. The two inner undercarriage and two small auxiliary doors are included too.

The bronze legs are ready to paint and install straight from the box. There are no casting blocks or strips, and not a hint of seam lines or other imperfections. They are perfectly cast in a single piece each.

The resin main gear covers are attached to thin strips that will be fast and easy to clean up with a sharp hobby knife and a sanding stick. The innner gear doors are also provided in perfectly cast resin.

Detail of the resin parts is excellent. Casting is remarkable. The parts are translucent in places.

Eduard's BRASSIN BRONZE undercarriage leg set is an opulent - perhaps even extravagent - finishing touch for your Eduard and Special Hobby Tempest II kits.

Conclusion

The LooK instrument panel will look good in your Tempest cockpit while the BRASSIN wheels and undercarriage legs are luxurious upgrades.
