FirstLook

Eduard has released a BRASSIN propeller and spinner set for their own 1/48 scale Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-10 kits.

The label sells the contents a little short. The propeller represents the VDM 9-12159 assembly, which certainly was typically fitted to the Bf 109 G-10 but also to the Bf 109 G-5/AS, G-6/AS, G-14/AS, and K-4.

The set comprises seven parts in grey resin plus two photoo-etched parts.

The resin parts include three propeller blades, spinner base with propeller hub and pitch collar detail cast in place, the spinner cap, splined propeller shaft and an assembly jig to ensure the propellers will have perfect pitch.

The blast tube at the tip of the spinner is represented by a photo-etched part. A spare of this tiny part is also helpfully provided.

Detail is excellent, especially on the hub. The splined shaft is a nice touch too. The spinner cap and base feature subtle panel and rivet detail.

Overall shapes are good but I believe that the openings for the propellers in the spinner cap should taper in towards the base.

This is a simple and nicely detailed replacement for Eduard's Bf 109 G-10, G-5/AS, G-6/AS and G-14/AS and K-4 kit propeller assemblies.

Thanks to Eduard for the samples and images.
