Trumpeter's 1/32 scale

Ukrainian Sukhoi Su-25 ‘Frogfoot A’ and a Russian Su-25UB ‘Frogfoot B’
Two very topical models today; two version of the Sukhoi Su-25 ‘Grach’ (‘rook’); a Ukrainian ‘Frogfoot A’ and a Russian Su-25UB ‘Frogfoot B’.
These are both the well-known 1/32 Trumpeter kits. Each has been improved a lot with a vast array of after-market items, which these fairly old kits really needed. The Ukrainian aircraft with the ‘digital’ camouflage utilises excellent masks and decals made by the Ukrainian company Foxbot, which I’m told are currently out of production. The Russian aircraft has an invented ‘bort number’ made from my decal spares, but it seems plausible according to the research I’ve done. The rocket launchers and cluster bombs are particularly good in quality and they’re made by Reskit.
I made these models in parallel, something that I am prone to do when I can’t make up my mind which of two versions of an aircraft is the more interesting. It’s a weird habit, I know, and it does demand a lot more concentration during the building stage, but in doing this I find that the differences between the aircraft are all the more interesting and informative.
Like many model makers one of the incentives to make particular aircraft comes from my interest in history, but this is yet another reminder that events never stand still. What’s in the news one day moves past us and recedes into history. In one way or another it’s a conveyor belt we’re all on.
