Airfix 1:48 scale
Supermarine Seafire Mk.47

by Brett Green

Here's my latest completion - the Airfix 1/48 scale Seafire Mk.46/47.

Attractive kit overall, especially considering it was first released 30 years ago.

Detail is nice, surface textures are excellent. The fit is generally good. Downsides are thick and distorted clear parts, trapezoid radiator housings, oversized pilot's seat (maybe 15-20%) and tricky main undercarriage. I had to trim on three sides of each leg to get them to fit.

Decals are mostly from Freightdog Item No. FSD48-008 - Post War Seafires Griffon Engined. The canopy is a vacform from Falcon. I used bits and pieces from Cooper Details and BarracudaCals' Spitfire and Seafire sets.

This one will be written up for a big article in Issue 257 of Model Airplane International magazine.
