Eduard’s 1/72 Spitfire Mk.I/II/V kits already feature impressive cockpit detail, but the company’s “LOOK” Instrument Panel & Harness set offers a quick and easy way to take the kit a step further.

The LOOK set comprises two colour printed 3d printed resin parts, two grey 3d printed resin parts, four parts on a small coloured photo-etched fret, four acetate gunsight lenses and instructions. The set focuses on the instrument panel and the pilot’s harness.

The multi-layer instrument panel looks good. The instrument panel and separate master compass feature sharply printed instrument faces.

The instrument panel bulkhead is also 3d printed, but you will be painting this in your favourite interpretation of Interior Green yourself.

The etched harness is worthwhile. The thin metal straps are finely rendered and may be gently bent to reproduce the natural drape of the belts over the seat. At 1/72 scale, this subtle increase in finesse will make a visible impact.

The straps and hardware are pre-painted onto the fret, including stitch and buckle detail.

Installation will be straightforward, although the small size of the components demand care. Eduard’s clear instructions illustrate the assembly sequence and identify the locations of the replacement components.

The set is also sensibly focused by concentrating on features that will remain visible in the completed model. The instrument panel is directly in the viewer’s line of sight, while the harness adds a prominent focal point around the pilot’s seat.

Eduard Spitfire Mk.Vb Instrument Panel & Harness is a simple but effective upgrade for the their own 1/72 Spitfire Mk.Vb. The combination of pre-painted 3d printed resin detailand fine photo-etch and adds a level of refinement.

For modellers seeking to maximise cockpit detail of their Eduard 1/72 Spitfire without embarking on a major aftermarket project, this set will be a canny choice.
