Please note that my btgreen@mac.com and submissions@hyperscale.com email addresses have not been working for the last week. If you have sent an email to me during this period, will you please resend it to btgreen@mac.com. I will make a note on What'e New when the hyperscale email addresses are working again.

  • It took much longer than I had hoped, but HyperScale’s brand new servers are now fully operational. The site winked off the air shortly after I loaded the 5 December update, so I will leave this in place until tomorrow to give everyone a chance to catch up. I do apologise for the outages and lack of updates over the last few days but hopefully these new servers will be more reliable than the old boxes which were pretty much at the end of their useful lives. This was the first and only hardware change since moving to dedicated servers seven years ago, and I am not planning on any more major technical changes in the near future (although I still have to move about 20 domain names, including Missing-Lynx, to the new servers in the coming days).

20 November, 2008 - Revell Mosquito, A2Zee Interview & Reviews

  • We have seen a spontaneous interest in classic wartime images from LIFE Magazine on the Plane Talking Forum over the last day or two. so I have nominated a special LIFE Magazine topic on "Theme Pics" for the next few days. If you have posted links to your favourite LIFE Magazine images on Plane Talking, can you please also post them to Theme Pics? That way, they will be easy to find in one spot.

I am very sad to report that Alan W. Hall passed away on Thursday morning. Mr Hall was a true pioneer of model publishing, editing Airfix Magazine from the early 1960s and spending many years at the helm of Scale Aircraft Modelling. I wish to pass on my sincere condolences to Mr Hall's family and friends. Milton Keynes Model Club has posted a brief tribute to Mr Hall.

We're having some ongoing tehnical problems which put the HyperScale server off the air for around ten hours on Tuesday US time, and are still having an impact on my ability to upload new content. New servers are being commissioned in a few weeks (I actually thought these had been installed over a month ago) which should help avoid these issues in the future. In the meantime, we have some new Galleries and Reviews:

I have been slowly bringing HyperScale's Indexes up to date after falling behind when I switched over to Dreamweaver as my web publishing programme early this year. I have now completed the Kit Review index, which now includes all the aircraft kit reviews from 1998 until now. I have also restructured the Kit Review Index into three separate pages - A - F, G - O and P - Z. This should help the Index pages load faster. If you still see the old Index page, click the refresh button on your browser.

More details will be advised in the coming weeks. The first release for 2009 will be the big 1/48 scale Fiat Br.20.

Addendum

I am pleased to announce that the second server is back on the air, so you will be able to view all those older Features and Galleries, plus Missing-lynx, ScaleWorkshop and more.

2 & 3 October, 2008

We are experiencing some technical difficulties at the moment, with one of my two dedicated servers off the air. This server houses some older Features and Galleries, plus all of Missing-Lynx, ScaleWorkshop and several other websites. A technician is attending to the problem now and hopefully the server will be back in service soon. In the meantime, new content and HyperScale's Forums are not affected (fingers crossed!)

1 October, 2008

HyperScale has a brand-new Discussion Forum - "Jet Age". The "Jet Age" forum will be the new home for discussion about post-WWII aviation modelling. "Jet Age" discussion will also include propeller driven and rotary wing aircraft of the post-1945 period. "Plane Talking" will remain as the Forum for general aviation modelling discussion; and modelling topics from the dawn of aviation to the end of the Second World War. I hope that you will enjoy the new "Jet Age" Forum.
